About Lithuania

Lithuania is one of the Baltic States, EU Member State at the Baltic Sea. Its territory is considered strategically favourable, so it becomes increasingly attractive for business development and investments. Lithuania shares borders with Latvia, Belarus, Poland, and Russia. Recently, Republic of Lithuania was recognized a state belonging to the category of ones distinguishing for particularly high level of development that attests excellent economic status and welfare of the country. Since 2014, its national currency is Euro.

The national language of Lithuania is Lithuanian; however, you can easily find persons who speak English or Russian. The majority of the population of the country is presented by Lithuanians - 83.7%, then follow Poles and Russians – 6.6% and 5.3%, respectively.

Lithuania is a small country and its population is less than 3 000000; however, it has abundant boasts to pride of. The number of tourists increasingly grows from year to year.

Lithuania is famous for its landscapes, flatlands, abundant forests, lakes and marches. In addition, the seaside with its sandy beaches where amber may be found and the Curonian Spit with its impressive images and dunes attract tourists as well. The major places of resort in Lithuania include Palanga, Neringa, Druskininkai, and Birštonas. The nature is very important for Lithuania, so we do our best to cherish it; there are many national parks and landscape reserves that are worth being visited. At present, 5 national parks exist in Lithuania. They include: Trakai Historical National Park, the Aukštaitija National Park, the Dzūkija National Park, Samogitian National Park and the Curonian Spit National Park.

The largest cities of the country (Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda) have many places of interest as well. They are famous for their historic parts, cycle-ways, abundant churches and museums. Vilnius Old City is included in UNESCO world heritage list and is considered one of the largest in East Europe.

In Lithuania, various cultural events, concerts and expositions are frequently arranged, so the population does not have a tedious time.
